Running, Photos, and the Catwalk…Oh My!
Since we can’t be everywhere all at once it can be hard to decide how to spend one’s precious weekend. With options all over Downtown Denver, within your community and neighborhood, and always something to do in the Colorado Rockies, its tough to narrow down your day. So without any further ado, here is a rundown on this weekend’s many events, with a little something for everyone.
Starting bright and early on Saturday morning is the 24th Annual AIDS Walk Colorado, the Rocky Mountain region’s biggest and most successful HIV/AIDS research fundraiser. More than 8,000 members of the Colorado community come together at Cheeseman Park united in an effort to stop this deadly disease. Throughout the day there will be live entertainment, a 5K run/walk, a 1/2K fun run, volleyball and a Celebration of Life festival. Vendors will be there serving great food and drinks, as well as exhibiting panels from the National AIDS Quilt. Proceeds will benefit HIV/AIDS clients of Colorado AIDS Project, in addition to 20 other AIDS institutions. Even if your not the running type this will be a great place to spend a Saturday morning, out in the fresh air with plenty of friendly faces, so what are you waiting for?
Are you the kind of person who always has the camera out? You know, a true shutterbug? Well if that’s the case you’re in luck as the Colorado Photography Festival comes to the Auraria Campus Saturday – Monday this weekend. Don’t miss this opportunity to look through the lenses of six of the nation’s premier nature photographers. All weekend great photographers and artists will descend on Denver for the Colorado Photography Festival, showcasing wonderful photos as well as teaching you some tricks of the trade. Saturday’s symposium includes talks aimed at improving one’s skills; Sunday’s workshops offer specific lessons (such as nighttime landscape lessons); and Monday wraps it all up with a seminar on Lightroom work and Photoshop.
